Mcleodganj is a town in suburb of Dharamshala in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh and is also the headquarters of Tibetan Government in excile. So, people below are the places that one should must visit while in Mcleodganj:

  • St John in the Wilderness: This is an Anglican Church located in the forest near Mcleodganj. The building was constructed in 1852 and also has a graveyard in it. This place was also the resting place for Lord Ergin, Governer General and Viceroy of India during British period.
  • Bhagsu Falls: This place is around 5 kms from Mcleodganj and one can easily find a taxi at cheap fares to reach this place. If one is interested, he/she can also trek to this place. This place is situated in lush greenery and pristine atmosphere. One cannot afford to miss the scenic beauty of this place if in Mcleodganj.
  • Dal Lake: This place is situated around 3 kms from Mcleodganj. This place has a small lake and temple. Dal lake is named after the famous lake in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. Above the lake there is a small village called "Naddi" and one can view the Dhauladhar ranges from here. One can trek to Naddi village from Dal Lake and one would enjoy the beautiful landscapes on the way.

  • Namgyal Monastery: This place was built in 1564 and is a personal monastery of the 14th Dalai Lama. The interiors of the place are decorated by paintings, pictures and Idols of Lord Buddha. This place is also the residence of the Dalai Lama and if you are lucky enough you may get a chance to meet him.
