Road trip from Delhi to Bir Billing | Highest Paragliding Site

Are you looking to get a relief from the heat and hustle of New Delhi and want to visit Bir Billing. You are at the right place, I would provide you with complete information required to visit the place.

To escape from the scrotching heat of Delhi, we decided to go to Hill Station but not a one which would be overcrowded. After doing a lot of research, we came to conclusion that we should go to Bir Billing, which is around 635 kms from New Delhi in Himachal Pradesh. It is also famous for Paragliding as the second highest site.

We started off our journey from New Delhi at 6:00 AM and had our first pitstop at the famous Amrik Sukhdev, Murthal. After having our breakfast which included of the famous paranthas and tea, we headed further on National Highway 1A. We wanted to reach Pathankot by 5 in the evening so that we can have a night stay at that place before heading towards Himachal Pradesh. Our second Pitstop was at Haveli, Jalandhar where we had our lunch and headed towards Pathankot. Pathankot is around 100 kms from Jalandhar. After a drive of around 2 hours, we finally reached Pathankot. As we entered Pathankot, we were welcomed by lush green hills and the best part was that it was raining as we entered Pathankot. We booked a room at  Hotel Parag in Pathankot, which is situated very near to the ISBT, Pathankot. The weather of Pathankot was awesome and we enjoyed shopping at the Railway road, Pathankot. And not to forget the Gandhi Chowk, where we were able to find big bulls fighting with each other and creating terror among people.

Early next morning we checked out from the Hotel and headed towards Bir Billing. As we left Pathankot, we were welcomed by Hills. We headed towards the road to Dharamshala. People visiting this place for the first time, need to ensure that as they leave Pathankot, there is a diversion for Dalhousie as well but we need to continue moving on the road going towards Dharamshala. After driving for around 1.5 hours, we reach Trilokpur, which is Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is District Kangra of Himachal Pradesh. A Natural cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is famous here. The cave has natural lime formations of centuries old and a temple of Lord Shiva is established since long time. One can find holiness after visiting this place.

After a drive of around 1 hour, we saw a diversion that said Bir-Billing to the left. As we headed on the diverted road, the road started to get steep. We finally reached Bir and were greeted by Paragliders moving up in the sky. We booked a room at Hotel Surya Classic for Rs. 1250 per night.

The weather was awesome and the main attractions of Bir were:
